San Diego Comic-Con is like a magical wonderland for people like crowds, waiting in long lines, and getting the first look at upcoming movies and television shows. And probably comics, somewhere. Because it has a foot in both worlds, The Walking Dead has always used the platform of Comic-Con to reveal news and footage, and this year is no different, as AMC’s hit zombie series revealed this lengthy new trailer, as well as a premiere date for season five.

There may be some light SPOILERS for Walking Dead fans beyond this point. And some swear words.

The Walking DeadThat massive spectacle that San Diego Comic-Con has become kicks off in earnest today with tons of high-profile upcoming movies and television shows stopping by to show off their wares. Being based on an actual comic book, AMC’s hit zombie drama The Walking Dead has always had a strong presence, and this year isn’t going to be any different. The show took over a portion of “America’s Finest City” to give fans a slice the post-apocalyptic zombie excitement.

We aren’t lucky, or driven enough to be at Comic-Con this year (we’re afraid of large crowds), but our fabulous older sibling Cinema Blend is all over the place, and they were able so snap these photos of the badass Walking Dead display. Fans who watched season four of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company trying to make their way through the zombie-filled world will recognize these big set pieces.

The Walking Dead: The Game – Tragedy And Childbirth Make Episode 4 A Series Highlight

While the Episode 4 SPOILERS are kept to a minimum, you’ll definitely want to play Episode 3 before reading.

walking dead gameIn the world of The Walking Dead, the only safety is in knowing that there is no safety. Undead walkers are around every corner and behind every door, just waiting to turn people’s faces into mulch. Yet Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Game has consistently proven that humans are still capable of the most monstrous actions in this post-apocalyptic world, and Episode 4, Amid the Ruins, is a dark and dreary reminder of that fact. Complete with tons of gore, decision-making, and the brief potential for humane sympathy, of course.

WDeadComicConSan Diego Comic-Con 2014 officially kicks off tomorrow with “Preview Night,” which used to just be an excuse to wander around the dealer’s floor before the hordes arrived, but now is the day you have to get in line if you want to get into Hall H. Of course, one of the many great things about Comic-Con is all the free swag you’ll have crammed into your bags during the flight home, swag such as these rather badass exclusive Con posters for AMC’s The Walking Dead and the upcoming Jurassic Park sequel, Jurassic World.

SPOILERS FOR THE MOST RECENT SEASON OF THE WALKING DEAD

First up we’ve got the above banner for The Walking Dead, showing off the dire situation our favorite zombie survivors were left in as of last season. If you recall, Rick and the gang had gotten split into smaller groups after the shitstorm at the prison, and the whole season was leading up to their eventual reunion…and to a place called Terminus. The self-described “end of the line” was a beacon of potential hope throughout a season where the survivors were otherwise scattered and just trying to survive on a day-to-day basis. Unfortunately, this being The Walking Dead, things didn’t turn out well once they got to Terminus. As in “locked in a train car by heavily armed nutjobs of dangerous intent.”

The Walking DeadAMC’s hit zombie drama The Walking Dead is going to have a strong presence at San Diego Comic-Con next week, which is pretty standard for the comic book-based series. We expect to see some significant reveals come out of that event, but just because they have big things in the works doesn’t mean that there won’t be anything for fans to gorge themselves on. Four new photos from the upcoming season five have appeared online, and comic creator and series executive producer Robert Kirkman shared some details on the new direction of the show for season five.

There are potential SPOILERS beyond this point. You have been warned.

Telltale Unveils The Walking Dead Episode 4 Trailer And Release Date

Though they generally put out fantastic products, Telltale Games is often thought of as the scourge of humanity by gamers who hate the company’s seemingly random release dates. Fans wait months between episodes of games like The Walking Dead and the now-completed first season of The Wolf Among Us, with the announcements usually arriving only a week or two before the episodes hit the Internet. Such is the case once more, as Telltale revealed the full trailer for the fourth episode of The Walking Dead: The Game Season 2, “Amid the Ruins,” and confirmed the installment will be available for download on July 22. Maybe I’m biased here, but it certainly looks like it was worth the wait.

Spoilers ahead!
