As we gradually approach the season 3 premiere of Orphan Black, BBC America is starting to ratchet up their promotional push for the new episodes of their fan favorite clone drama. To this end, they’ve unveiled a pair of quick, ominous teasers to set the mood for the upcoming run.

The first of the quick videos focuses on Sarah (Tatiana Maslany, I don’t know why I’m specifying that, as Maslany plays all of the members of the Clone Club, in what is truly an impressive, dizzying performance). She faces off with one of the newly unveiled male clones (all played by Ari Millen), and has a message: she is not your property, just in case you were wondering about that.

orphan blackSometimes it seems like the universe isn’t on our side, and other times it feels like we own it all. This is one of those latter instances, when things seem just a little too perfect. The latest news out of the Star Wars spinoff abyss is that Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany, an actress whose name we’ve been praising for ages around here, has landed a lead role. And if we’re lucky, she’ll be playing at LEAST six characters throughout the film, she has the skills.

The rumorish news comes from Total Geeks, whose sources have kept up with them since Maslany’s name was first put into the hat. The Canadian actress was reportedly a frontrunner from the very beginning, due to Disney and Lucasfilm being impressed with her, and their latest report says that she was offered the role and snatched it up.

This Orphan Black Season 3 Trailer Prepares For The Clone War

Earlier we showed off a new still from season 3 of BBC America’s Orphan Black, as well as recounted some details that creator Graeme Manson shared with the world. But the clone drama wasn’t done, as they released this short, ominous new teaser trailer, and finally pinned down a concrete premiere date for the new episodes, something that is sure to make fans happy.

Outside of the earlier photo—which shows Sarah (Tatiana Maslany in one of her many, many roles) facing off with Rudy (Ari Millen), one of the recently unveiled set of male clones, in a Dyad prison cell—this is our first real look at the upcoming, long-in-the-works season 3. And even this video is a tease in every sense, and rather than offering anything in the way of details or specifics, it sets the brooding tone and lets you know that a clash is coming down the pipeline.

Zoe Saldana As Ripley And Katee Sackhoff As Han Solo In Comic-Con Cosplay Shots

aliensYesterday, we got to see some truly awesome fan-play as The Hollywood Reporter kicked off one of the sweetest photo projects imaginable, reimagining some of sci-fi’s greatest characters with some of sci-fi’s most popular actors. Firefly‘s Nathan Fillion took on the role of Captain Kirk and Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick checked the time as Marty McFly. And now you can see Avatar‘s Zoe Saldana playing this genre’s most ass-kicking hero, Ellen Ripley, from James Cameron’s Aliens, among others.

Saldana gives a great interview with THR, talking about all three of her simultaneous sci-fi franchises. (She’s also in Guardians of the Galaxy and Star Trek, of course.) As such, it’s no surprise that she should earn the spot of one of cinema’s most iconic female characters, in the movie where she turns from heroine to warrior.

Hey Emmys, F#@$ You For Snubbing Orphan Black And Tatiana Maslany Again

There are Orphan Black spoilers about in the story below, though the Emmys spoiled everything anyway by being so negligent.

orphan blackFor the second year in a row, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has released a list of nominations that have fallen glaringly short in recognizing the quality and accessibility of TV’s most exciting sleeper hit, Orphan Black, and the hardest-working actress on TV, Tatiana Maslany. It was bad enough last year, as the series’ freshman season was a whirlwind of dark humor, conspiracies, and hairpin twists, all expertly anchored by Maslany’s handful of varied performances as the show’s central gang of clones. Somebody get a cop more competent than Art on this case, because this is just criminal.

Oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man oh man! My repetitive state is due in part to the massive amount of excitement bubbling up in my guts for the upcoming second season of BBC America’s hilariously dark clone drama Orphan Black, and not simply to help me reach a word quota. (I really, really, really promise that.) The first actual clip from the show has made its way online via the official Instagram page, and instead of just another mysterious bit with cryptic voiceovers, we actually get to see these characters in action again!
