Star Wars Rumors: Mark Hamill’s Ep VII Role Getting Beefier, Plus A Boba Fett Twist

logoAccording to Latino Review, screenwriter Michael Arndt left Episode VII because he didn’t see eye to eye with director J.J. Abrams when it came to the film’s storyline. Apparently, Arndt wanted Episode VII to follow the Solo kids, while Abrams wanted to keep the story with the Skywalkers. Since Arndt left the project, his ideas went along with him, and Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan re-wrote the film’s script with the Skywalkers front and center. In fact, Latino Review guesses that Mark Hamill might have to spend six months shooting the new movie.

Recent casting rumors suggested that Breaking Bad star Jesse Plemons might appear in Episode VII, and Latino Review suggests that Lucasfilm is getting close to locking him down with a three-picture deal. If cast, Plemons would allegedly play Luke Skywalker’s son, believed to be named Ben Skywalker, after Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi. On the other hand, Latino Review dismisses the rumors that Episode VII will feature Obi-Wan Kenobi’s offspring.

Jesse PlemonsWe know you’ve just been sitting there, twiddling your thumbs, starring at your computer, thinking to yourself, “You know, Internet, it’s been a while since you’ve given me a good, unsubstantiated Star Wars rumor.” Well ask and ye shall receive. Jesse Plemons, who some of you might know as Todd from AMC’s popular meth-based drama Breaking Bad, has reportedly been called back to audition again for what is being called a lead role in Star Wars: Episode VII. That’s really all there is too this story at the moment, but that isn’t going to stop us from talking more about this possible development.

Disney and Lucasfilm have no official comment, of course, but according to The Wrap and their sources that are clued in on such matters, Plemons is scheduled to meet with Abrams sometime next week. The 25-year old Battleship actor already has one taped audition under his belt, hence the earlier use of the word again again, but will score a little face time with director J.J. Abrams.

Vader! The biggest movie of 2015 is going to be Star Wars: Episode VII. There’s not much debate about that. While J.J. Abrams and crew are busy getting the new movie together so they can start production this spring, Disney’s Imagineers may have some inside information on new storyline and characters. Apparently, Disneyland and Walt Disney World are overhauling a majority of Tomorrowland (the theme park and not the upcoming movie) to resemble the look and feel of Episode VII.

According to MiceChat.com, Team Disney Anaheim (TDA) recently got the go-ahead to transform Tomorrowland into the all-new Star Wars Land. The new attractions and rides will obviously be Star Wars-centric, with an emphasis on the next installment. It seems that Abrams allowed the Imagineers access to key parts of the screenplay so they can start designing the new additions.

Katee Sackhoff Campaigns For Star Wars: Episode VII

Starbuck!J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production team will soon be making their way to Pinewood Studios in London, England to start principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VII, but Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to announce who will star in the first film of the new sequel trilogy. We’ve heard many rumors about who might be considered for potential roles, but Battlestar Galactica actress Katee Sackhoff is campaigning for a role in that galaxy far, far away.

In an interview with Total Film, Sackhoff pleads with J.J. Abrams to be cast in Episode VII. Sackhoff says she has been in love with the original Star Wars trilogy since she was a child and would love an opportunity to be in the new series. Considering her role as Viper pilot Starbuck on BSG, it comes to no surprise that Katee Sackhoff grew up wanting to be Han Solo instead of Princess Leia. She tells Total Film:

Star Wars meant everything to me growing up. Star Wars was, I mean, it was the first time I remember seeing three movies that all kind of went together. It was just an amazing final understanding of what a trilogy was…I was absolutely obsessed, I mean I wanted to be… The sad thing is, I never wanted to be Princess Leia, I always wanted to be Han Solo! [laughs] I’ve never really been drawn to these female roles, but I think that The Clone Wars was so much fun for me to play, I mean a warrior….If J.J. would listen, I would play a rock in the Star Wars movies. I think that they’re fantastic, I think that he’s a great choice, and I’m excited to see what happens in that world.
