Star Wars: Episode VII’s Villain Could Be A Descendent Of An Earlier Enemy

DookuStar Wars: Episode VII is more than 15 months away, but when has that ever stopped people from talking about Star Wars? Reports, rumors, and set photos have been flying around pretty much since Disney bought out Lucasfilm and announced there would be more movies, and many of these have revolved around potential villains (knowing that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford are all back gives us at least a face to put on the good guys), and now we’re hearing new details about who those who inhabit the Dark Side of the Force.

As usual, there are SPOILERS beyond this point, read on with caution. And, as always, this report is unsubstantiated and unofficial, so take it with a grain of salt.

Gotham PD Busts Stormtrooper In Awesome Star Wars-Batman Collision

star warsIf you’ve been paying attention, there has been a good-natured back and forth flame war between J.J. AbramsStar Wars: Episode VII and Zack Snyder’s upcoming superhero flick Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, both of which are currently filming. The two sides have been shooting mashed up photos of the two properties back and forth for a while, and now we have the latest, and possibly greatest (is this the big gun that ends the war?) salvo.

Snyder took to his Twitter account and blasted out this picture of the Gotham City Police Department arresting a stormtrooper. The white-clad Imperial foot-solider is bound by handcuffs (or possibly one of those industrial strength zip ties the cops use nowadays, you can’t really tell for sure) and the officers are forcibly inserted him into the back of their squad car. The message simply reads “Case closed.”

Star Wars: Episode VII: J.J. Abrams Casts An Old Friend In His Movie

greg grunbergAt this point, Star Wars: Episode VII is already deep in production. They’re so deep, in fact, they actually took a two-week hiatus while returning star Harrison Ford recovered from surgery on the leg he broke on set, and are now back filming again, as you can clearly see in all of those set photos that popped up over the last couple days. This far into principal photography you expect most of the cast to be set, but that’s not going to stop J.J. Abrams from finding a spot for an old pal, in this case former Heroes star Greg Grunberg, who has reportedly joined the cast.

Not only has Grunberg worked with Abrams a ton in the past, appearing in the likes of Mission: Impossible III, Alias, even all the way to Felicity (he also had a small role in 2009’s Star Trek, voicing James Kirk’s stepdad), the two go even further back than that. They’re actually childhood friends, and Grunberg even participated in those movies that Abrams made as a kid in the late 1970s and loves to talk about so much.

Star Wars: Episode VII: This Is What Luke Skywalker Has Been Up To Recently

star warsOver the last few days it feels like all I’ve written about is Star Wars: Episode VII. Between connections to Star Wars: Rebels, set photos of that one ship, and those even newer set photos of that badass other ship (see, I’m trying to be a good sport and not spoil anything above the jump), there’s been quite a bit to discuss. And that continues, as we’ve heard some possible news about whereabouts one of the returning franchise vets who may be missing in action (if you’ve kept up with the scuttlebutt, you know who I’m talking about).

As per usual, there are possible SPOILERS for Episode VII beyond this point. You’ve been warned, continue with caution. Also, take what you read beyond here with a grain of salt. Nothing is official, and nothing is likely to become official until we actually see the damn movie on December 18, 2015. Keep that in mind.

Star Wars: Episode VII Photos Reveal A Badass New Ship

XwingsStar Wars has always been full of all kinds of cool ass space ships. We saw pictures of a couple the other day—one old favorite and a twist on another classic—but today throws something entirely different into the Star Wars: Episode VII mix. Okay, not entirely different, like you could never imagine it, but substantially different enough to make it super interesting and start us salivating.

As usual, there are potential SPOILERS for Episode VII beyond this point, so read on with caution, or possibly blinders, or just don’t read on at all if you’re worried.

Star Wars: Episode VII: This Is What Daisy Ridley’s Character May Look Like

DaisyThus far we’ve only seen bits and pieces from Star War: Episode VII. For example, we know they filmed on the picturesque Irish isle Skellig Michael, we’ve seen peeks at some of the practical effects they’ll be using (like that little puppet guy, a different take on the X-Wing Fighter, and half a Millennium Falcon), and even some concept designs for what fashionable stormtrooper and Han Solo could be wearing come winter 2015. There have been unsubstantiated rumblings about franchise newcomer Daisy Ridley’s character and role, and while we don’t know much on that front, now we have a better idea of what her outfits may look like.

We’ll probably be discussing some potentially SPOILER-Y things beyond this point. Make of that information what you will.
