Augmented Reality TARDIS Really Is Bigger On The Inside, May Blow Your Mind

fb share tweet share

We post a lot about Doctor Who here at GFR, and that’s understandable — Doctor Who is cool. Doctor Who fans often being clever, creative sorts, we’ve also posted about lots of Doctor Who-inspired projects over the years, from puppet Doctors to gender-swapped Doctor artwork to TARDIS fridges. I feel safe in saying, however, that this is the coolest Who-related fan project we’ve ever seen. This guy named Greg decided to build his very own TARDIS model, see, but then…then he decided to add an extra layer of authenticity by figuring out a way to replicate — or at least emulate — the TARDIS’ handy feature of being bigger on the inside (or, as Clara would put it, smaller on the outside).

You already know that everyone’s favorite Time Lord, the Doctor, has a soft spot for a certain late-December holiday. Why else would he keep having Christmas specials year in and year out? But you probably didn’t know that if it wasn’t for the intervention of a small, animated puppet version of the Doctor, Christmas could have been cancelled. At least in New York City. And in this quick little short called How the Doctor Puppet Saved Christmas. Witness his heroic holiday deeds for yourself.

Doctor Who Alphabet Of Death Is Morbidly Awesome

In the course of scouring the interwebs for cool things to share with you all, we often run across some really impressive fan art. Every once in a while, however, we stumble across something that makes us want to stand up and give the artist a straight-up, Hollywood-style slow clap. This bit of brilliance known as “The Gallifreycrumb Tinies” is one of those discoveries. I want to drive cross-country just so I can high five the lady who made these.

New Doctor Who Trailer Promises Enemies, Mysteries, And A Twice-Dead Companion

fb share tweet share

“I’m the Doctor. I’m an alien from outer space, I’m a thousand years old, I’ve got two hearts, and I can’t fly a plane!” That’s the frenetic way the Doctor introduces himself in the new trailer for the second half of Doctor Who’s seventh season. The rest of the trailer is just as rapid-fire as the Time Lord’s delivery, but it promises enemies both old and new, including the Cybermen who will be returning for Neil Gaiman’s second episode later in 2013. But in amongst all the monsters and mayhem, things look to be very much focused on the mystery that is Clara Oswald, the Doctor’s new “not possible” companion. Check it out.

Winter Is Coming In New Doctor Who Christmas Special Trailer

Christmas is almost upon us, with all that entails: family gatherings, gifts under the tree, spiked eggnog, and holiday cheer. But nevermind all that, I say bring on the Doctor Who Christmas special already! Yes, the annual tradition continues on Tuesday, December 25th, with Doctor Who’s latest holiday special, entitled “The Snowmen,” blowing onto TV screens both in the U.K. and here in the States (courtesy of BBC America). And whether your local weather serves up a white Christmas for you or not, the Doctor will have plenty of snow to spare. The only thing is, it may try to kill you.

The folks at BBC America have released a new trailer for “The Snowmen,” and it promises a lot of fun. We’ve got evil snowmen (voiced by Ian McKellen, no less), we’ve got new companion Clara looking lovely and plucky, and some kind of freaky ice lady. Clearly the Doctor will need to get over moping about the Ponds, because there’s business to be sorted.
