Zombieland

One of the toughest parts of surviving any zombie outbreak is coping with your loved ones coming back as undead flesh eaters. For instance, what do you do when your beloved grandmother starts trying to crack your skull open and eat your brain? That appears to be the general idea behind this first-look picture at Amazon’s upcoming Zombieland series.

Okay, it isn’t anyone’s elderly family member, just a random old lady, but the loved-one thing plays an integral part in many a zombie movie. How many times has one character been forced to shoot a mother, brother, lover, etc. in the head? It happens, and it sucks. Be prepared.

We’ve had looks at both the cast and a teaser poster (again, that damn back-to-the-camera stance), but this is the first peek at the actual zombies running amok. They look like, well, like zombies. Bloody faces, crazy eyes, appetite for human flesh…you know, the usual.

This image, taken from the series pilot, shows us stars Columbus (Tyler Ross) and Wichita (Maiara Walsh) as they attempt to fend off a hungry geriatric. What you see here is apparently just a drop in the proverbial bucket.

Paul Wernick, who, with Rhett Reese, wrote the film and this pilot, says, “You will see plenty of violence and blood and gore like you did in the movie. People can expect a lot of zombie attacks in Zombieland, for sure.”

The action in the Zombieland series picks up two weeks after the events of the 2009 film, and follows the group of survivors as they travel East in an attempt to find a rumored community on the East coast.
