gravityI don’t know about you guys, but I’d say that 2013 was one of the biggest years for science fiction that has ever existed. Now, bigger doesn’t always mean better — just ask all the homeless ladies in my life — and there were plenty of stinkers that hit theaters and crossed TV screens. But we’re generally optimists here at GFR, and we think that the good outweighed the bad. And in the case of Gravity, it weighed the same but it floated over it in zero gravity. We’ve talked about our favorite moments from the year in sci-fi, and it’s time for you, our faithful readers, to tell us your favorite films of the year. Then we can all make snarky comments about each others decisions. Mwahahaha!!

Feast on a couple of the polls below, where you’ll be depressed when you’re reminded that movies like After Earth and Dark Skies came out this year. You may also wonder how much worse Dark Skies might have been if Jaden Smith happened to be one of the children.

And now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for, assuming you’re about to eat a great meal and take a nap. For the rest of you, it’s more questions. But these are the big ones.

And before you go, please tell us what your favorite TV show was this year. There aren’t nearly as many to choose from as the features, but they were definitely better on average.

Thank you guys so much for taking part in our polls. Hopefully you found a little insight into a movie or two that you might have missed out on or avoided. It’s gonna be a great 2014, readers. We’ll see you there.
