It’s no secret that we’re big Doctor Who fans here at GFR. We’re also fans of people making cool stuff. Those two slices of awesome just came together into one delicious pie of triumph thanks to some intrepid folks preparing for this year’s Toy Fair. Thanks to the magic of the interwebs, we can see a time-lapse video of the creation of a life-size Dalek created entirely out of Lego bricks.

So just what went into creating this plastic monstrosity? It took four people 328 man hours (nearly two weeks) to construct. It weighs in at 280 kg (617 lbs), stands 190 cm tall (over 6′), and is composed of 157,460 individual pieces. And you can watch the entire construction in a measly two minutes. My only criticism? Where’s his eyestalk thingy? How’s this poor bastard supposed to exterminate people if he can’t see where he’s going? Hopefully they’ll add it before the show.

The Lego Dalek will be unveiled at the upcoming Toy Fair 2012, held from February 12th – 15th in New York.

Thanks to io9 for spotting the video.
