With the announcement of J.J. Abrams as the new director of Star Wars: Episode VII, let’s not forget the other things going on in a galaxy far, far away. This weekend the Cartoon Network will air the last episode of The Clone Wars animated series before the series’ five-episode season finale. The resurrected Darth Maul and his brother, Savage Opress, ally themselves with the evil bounty hunter terrorist group the Death Watch. Check out a clip from the series featuring Savage Opress during a heist.

The clip came courtesy of Hollywood.com. This weekend’s episode is titled “Shades of Reason” and will feature the Death Watch, with the help from Darth Maul and Savage Opress, trying to reestablish themselves as the primary criminal organization in the Galactic Republic. The animated series is getting close to wrapping up its fifth season before it heads to Disney XD next season, as part of the Disney/Lucasfilm acquisition.

The expanded Star Wars universe is one of the reasons why you should watch The Clone Wars animated series. It features great voice actors, including Sam Witwer, Jon Favreau, and Katee Sackhoff, and voicing the role of Savage Opress is Clancy Brown. The events in The Clone Wars take place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

There are only roughly five years between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, so it’s unclear how long the animated series will last. A few weeks ago, the animated series also celebrated their 100th episode with the episode titled “Missing in Action.”

“Shades of Reason” will air on Jan 26th at 9:30 a.m. on the Cartoon Network.
