Wally Pfister Is Courting Christian Bale For His Sci-Fi Film Transcendence

The highly anticipated feature-length debut from longtime Christopher Nolan collaborator Wally Pfister is doing a second round of high-profile casting for the former-cinematographer’s science fiction directorial effort. It sounds like actor Christian Bale may re-team with Pfister for his film Transcendence.
Bale, who had worked with Pfister on Christopher Nolan’s films including Batman Begins, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight Rises, is said to be in talks with Transcendence’s producers for a major role according to the Los Angeles Times. It is rumored that Bale may play the villain of the film. Wally Pfister and his producer Christopher Nolan have been busy casting with the hopes of courting another big Hollywood star after perhaps casting actor Johnny Depp as the hero of the film.
There is not much known about the film Transcendence, but it’s said to be a cerebral science fiction film in the same vain as Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Needless to say, audiences and Nolan fans are anxious to see what the visually dynamic director of photography can do in the director’s seat.
Wally Pfister won an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his excellent work on Christopher Nolan’s Inception in 2010. Inception was part of a long string of films Pfister worked with Nolan on, from Memento through The Dark Knight Rises. After The Dark Knight Rises, Pfister parted ways with Nolan so he could work on his directorial debut with Transcendence.
