Tron: Uprising has what would be a crazy cast for big-time feature film, let alone a TV show, and especially for a cartoon. The call sheet includes Elijah Wood, Bruce Boxleitner, Tricia Helfer, Reginald VelJohnson, Mandy Moore, Emmaunelle Chriqui, Nate Corddry, Lance Henricksen, and Paul Reubens. That’s right, Lance Henricksen and Paul “Pee Wee Herman” Reubens in the same freakin’ place. That’s a personal childhood dream come true.
A new feature shows the cast and crew celebrating the launch of Tron: Uprising at the premiere of the prequel episode “Becks Beginning.”
There’s a little bit of everybody in this clip, including Reubens being as weird and awesome in real life as you expect him to be, and interviews with most of the big players. The best part of the video is the glimpses you get at the finished product.
The more that comes out about Tron: Uprising, the better it looks. Set between Tron and Tron: Legacy, the mix of 2D animation and CGI looks phenomenal, and 10-part miniseries is as full of action and light cycle chases as you want it to be.
“Beck’s Beginning” sets up the status quo for the series, which bridges the first and second movies. Beck is voiced by Lord of the Rings and Sin City actor Elijah Wood, whose character takes on the name Tron to fight the villainous Clu’s totalitarian influence on the other programs of the Grid.
Tron: Uprising premieres on Disney XD June 7th at 9:30.
