“This is insubordinate behavior.” Opening in a month and a half, Oblivion will hopefully be a delicious appetizer before the summer movie season begins. Director Joseph Kosinski’s follow-up to his debut film, Tron: Legacy, has the potential to be a big hit among science fiction fans, and hopefully general audiences as well. After a few bumpy starts, it looks like Universal has finally got a thrilling trailer together for the post-apocalyptic sci-fi film starring Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman. Watch the latest trailer for Oblivion below.

This trailer works better than any of Oblivion’s previous trailers because it strikes a great tone at the beginning and leads the viewer into the world rather than shoving them into the middle of it. Yesterday, Universal released two new Oblivion posters, one showcasing the dystopian future of the film and the other highlighting Morgan Freeman as Malcolm Beech, the mysterious leader of the resistance stationed on Earth.

After winning a terrible war with invading aliens, humanity is forced to leave the dilapidated Earth. Now all of mankind lives above the clouds. Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is a lonely drone mechanic stationed amongst the ruins and charged with fixing downed spacecraft. But when a mysterious woman (Olga Kurylenko) crashes on the planet, her arrival triggers a chain of events that throws everything Jack has ever known into question.

Joseph Kosinski will direct the film. He wrote the screenplay with William Monahan (The Departed) and Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3Star Wars: Episode VII). Oblivion also stars Morgan Freeman, Zoe Bell, Andrea Riseborough, Melissa Leo, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Oblivion will hit IMAX theaters across the country on April 12th, and will open everywhere else on April 19th.
