Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth installment of the videogame-based franchise, is about to unleash an onslaught of gruesome monsters, PG-13 violence, and pretty women with big guns wearing tight outfits. These are the elements that have driven the series thus far, and Retribution won’t stray too far from this successful formula.

As if to prove this point, a new international poster and a collection of pictures have appeared, showing two out of three of the ingredients just mentioned. And Oded Fehr. Though to be fair, he is rather hunky.

The poster promises that “The Ultimate Battle Begins,” and shows Alice (Milla Jovovich), a pistol in each hand, leaping into action. Also featured is series newcomer Ada Wong (Li Bingbing). Though this is her first foray into the cinematic side of the franchise, Ada should be a familiar face to fans of the Resident Evil videogames.

This photo gives you a better glimpse at both Ada and her weird little gun that looks more like a microscope than a firearm.

Sienna Guillory’s Jill Valentine looks like she’s been dipped in latex.

Rain Ocampo (Michelle Rodriguez) is making her first appearance in a Resident Evil movie since the 2002 original. Nice to see that she brought her big-ass gun along with her.

And you were promised Oded Fehr looking hunky, so here he is, striking almost the exact same pose as Rodriguez. Her gun is bigger.

When Alice awakes deep within the most secretive Umbrella Corporation facility yet, she works to unravel the twisted mystery of her past. Still determined to administer justice to those at Umbrella responsible for unleashing the deadly T-Virus, which turned the populace of the world into bloodthirsty monsters, she chases answers around the globe. Along the way she enlists the help of many of her friends from earlier chapters.

Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Resident Evil: Retribution opens in 3D on September 14th.

Much has been made of the “mind blowing” revelation in store for Alice in Retribution, and trailers have shown her immersed in an artificial suburban world. Combine all of this with the “clandestine” nature of the facility that she’s trapped in, and the fact that I was under the impression that some of these characters were, you know, dead, I have a theory. I can’t help but think Alice will discover she’s been in some sort of reality simulator, that this has all been just a dream, or some other cop-out disclosure like that. This is all just a theory at this point. Am I crazy, or does that sound like a possibility?
