Thor: The Dark World Blooper Reel Teases Home Video Release

Thor: The Dark World was one of the most profitable movies of 2013. The Marvel movie took in $638.4 million worldwide, with $204.6 million of that total coming from domestic box office. The second movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Two was also a big crowd-pleaser and a great break from the fall’s Oscar-bait movies such as American Hustle, 12 Years a Slave, and The Wolf of Wall Street. The movie will be released on home video at the end of the month, so Marvel is slowly releasing the Blu-ray’s bonus features to get fans excited for the new release. And you know what that means: blooper reel! My favorite bits are when Thor’s red cape gets flung into Chris Hemsworth’s bearded face. It’s priceless!

Last week, Marvel released footage of Tom Hiddleston’s screen test for the first Thor movie. While it’s hard to separate Hiddleston from his Marvel character of Loki, at one point the British actor actually read and auditioned for the God of Thunder himself. It’s hard to imagine Thor being played by someone that isn’t Chris Hemsworth because he is perfect for the role. On the other hand, it’s equally hard to see the God of Mischief not being played by Tom Hiddleston. He is also perfect for the role, and hopefully Marvel will give Loki his own standalone movie one day.

Recently, concept art from Thor: The Dark World revealed alternative costumes from the Warriors Three: Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg. The art was from artist and designer Kevin Christensenare, who also worked on the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past for Twentieth Century Fox. Strange, I always though Sif, played by the beautiful Jamie Alexander, was part of the Warriors Three, but as it turns out, she’s a Goddess of Asgard instead.

It was recently announced that screenwriter Craig Kyle would join writer Christopher Yost to pen The Dark World sequel Thor 3. Yost wrote Thor: The Dark World, while Kyle is a writer at Marvel Studios who wrote the Wolverine and the X-Men animated TV series. Marvel’s Kevin Feige said:

I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure.

While nothing official about the storyline for Thor 3 has been confirmed yet, it’s believed that it may feature Fire Demons of Muspelheim and their leader Surtur as the film’s villains. The Fire Demons are “fierce fighters” from one of the Nine Worlds of Norse mythology that “sometimes venture to the other nine worlds in the name of war.” Honestly, I feel that Thor 3 should feature The Enchantress as the film’s main villain. She’s long overdue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she would also make a good counterpart and rival to Loki.

Thor: The Dark World will be released on Blu-ray/DVD and as a digital download on February 25.
