Terminators, Aliens, And Other Sci-Fi Classics Get A Children’s Book Makeover

One of the great joys of having kids is getting to introduce them to movies and shows and books and comics you love. The only problem is, you have to wait for them to actually be old enough to comprehend it all, much less enjoy it. But where’s the fun in that? There’s bound to be a way to get my three-year-olds interested in the stomach-bursting joys of the Alien franchise. You just have to learn to talk to them in their own jabber-y language. Or hey, kids like cartoons! Maybe it’s all a matter of presentation…
That bit of beautiful awesomeness is the work of Josh Cooley, an artist who’s worked on Pixar films including Cars, Up, and Ratatouille. A while back, he decided to take the whole “kid’s book presentation, grown-up subject matter” to the next letter by actually creating a book, entitled Movies R Fun, which collected Golden Books-style illustrations of classic R-rated movie moments. For instance, there’s that family-friendly classic, A Clockwork Orange…
…everybody’s favorite murderous computer…
…and not one, but two separate Terminator movies!
What’s that? You say you’re more of a video game kind of guy/gal? Fear not, we’ve got you covered! Or rather Los Angeles-based artist Joebot does. At least as long as you’re a fan of BioShock or Portal. And if you’re not, you’re probably a smelly jerk and you don’t need awesome things anyway.
And hey, isn’t there an awesome movie opening this weekend? I wonder if that Joebot guy has anything to help celebrate that…
