Though they generally put out fantastic products, Telltale Games is often thought of as the scourge of humanity by gamers who hate the company’s seemingly random release dates. Fans wait months between episodes of games like The Walking Dead and the now-completed first season of The Wolf Among Us, with the announcements usually arriving only a week or two before the episodes hit the Internet. Such is the case once more, as Telltale revealed the full trailer for the fourth episode of The Walking Dead: The Game Season 2, “Amid the Ruins,” and confirmed the installment will be available for download on July 22. Maybe I’m biased here, but it certainly looks like it was worth the wait.

Spoilers ahead!

While this second season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead hasn’t matched up to the first in almost any way—other than Kumail Nanjiani cameos—this second-to-last episode puts us in the home stretch, and you just know some truly awful things are about to befall Clementine, Kenny, and their roving band of misfits. When we last saw these guys at the end of Episode 3, everyone was attempting to leave Carver’s encampment by smearing zombie guts all over themselves. This results both in a tragedy (Carlos gets shot) and one of the sweetest and most abrupt video game endings ever, assuming that you, like me, chose to lop off Sarita’s arm after she was bitten on the hand. (I guess there are some that just chose to kill the zombie, but that’s no fun.)

walking deadFrom the look of things in this trailer, the group is once again on their own and wandering through the woods and ruined lands. Not only are the zombies a threat, but Rebecca is about to pop that baby right out of her body, and Kenny suffers from both physical damage and vast mental fatigue. Plus, it looks like that dumbass Sarah is going to get into some trouble, as evidenced by Clementine finding her abandoned glasses. I’m sure she’s fine though, and will be whining her way through the next two episodes just to piss me off.

walking deadThe game’s rating includes “sexual themes,” and I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean. Are they counting Rebecca’s pregnancy as something of a sexual nature? Because that’s weird. Maybe Kenny will get a hand job and he can finally be at peace for 10 to 15 minutes.

walking deadFind The Walking Dead “Amid the Ruins” when it’s released for PC and Mac users, as well as PS3 and PS Vita players, on Tuesday, July 22. The Xbox 360 will get the episode on July 23, while iOS players will get it on July 24. I’ll definitely throw up a review of the episode, so come back then…and wash all that zombie blood off. You smell like a dirty morgue.
