Look Like A Starfleet Academy Alum With This Star Trek Class Ring

By Brent McKnight | 8 years ago

Have you always regretted the fact that you didn’t buy a class ring? Me neither. Then again, odds are that neither of us graduated from Starfleet Academy. That would be a different situation entirely, now wouldn’t it? You’d wear that bad boy with pride and flash it every chance you got. Well, now you can at least pretend to be a Starfleet alum with a new replica of the rings worn in J.J. Abrams’ 2009 franchise reboot.

Quantum Mechanix announced the product all the way back in 2010, but is now on the verge of shipping the rings, which are available for pre-order. At just 20 bucks, this bauble may be worth looking into.

The ring is for the class of 2258, so wearing this puts you in pretty good company. That is, after all, the year of James T. Kirk, Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, and Nyota Uhura, at least in their most recent incarnations. That was a particularly strong year at the Academy.

This collectible piece of Trek memorabilia is made of a strong metal alloy designed to resist scratching and to resemble the bright sterling silver of the inspiration from the film. And if you’re the kind of collector who likes to keep things in mint condition by leaving them in the original packaging, you’re in luck, because these also come in a nice-looking container. There’s a custom metal case with a clear top, within which you will find a stand so you can prominently display your newest possession, much to the delight of your Trekkie pals.
