Star Wars: Phantom Menace 3D Re-Release Poster

Because George Lucas likes money, and we all keep giving it to him, all six Star Wars movies are being converted into 3D and re-released in theaters. You’re probably going to pay to see them, even though we all know that 3D conversions never work. We’re Star Wars fans. We can’t help ourselves, obviously.

The first of the Star Wars movies to get the 3D re-release treatment will be The Phantom Menace, and since it’s slated for release on February 10, 2012 Lucasfilm has started promoting it. To get your attention, they’ve released this poster:

It’s a much simpler poster than the one originally used for Phantom Menace in 1999. They’ve reduced the number of characters, in particular they’ve removed Jar Jar and Jake Lloyd… always a good decision. But where’s QuiGonn Jinn?

He’s the best thing about Phantom Menace, and deserves to be on the poster. Here’s the original, which was focused entirely around Qui-Gonn’s head:
