Star Wars: 1313 Featurette Delves Into The Depths Of Coruscant’s Underworld

The upcoming videogame Star Wars: 1313 is looking better and better with each new tidbit that comes to light. 1313 casts the player as a bounty hunter infiltrating the seedy underbelly of the Republic’s planetwide capital city, Coruscant. Exactly what he’s looking for isn’t clear yet, but two things are apparent: 1) his mission doesn’t go as planned, and 2) I will so be pre-ordering this game. Here’s the latest look at 1313, a short featurette examining the game’s setting, a wretched hive of scum and villainy buried far beneath Coruscant’s gleaming spires.

Star Wars: 1313 is a third-person action shooter, and some are already dubbing it “Star Wars meets Uncharted.” I’m not sure if that was meant to be derogatory or not, but it sounds pretty damn awesome to me. Given how mighty the Star Wars marketing machine is, it’s surprising how few truly excellent Star Wars games we’ve gotten over the years. This one, at least, looks to be exploring less familiar territory than the many, many starfighter pilot and/or Jedi games that have come before. That’s a smart move, because the setting and premise allows 1313 to explore the darker elements of the Star Wars universe. And besides, who hasn’t wanted to out-Boba Fett Boba Fett at some point in their lives?

The game also looks gorgeous, and it sounds like the designers are working hard to make the setting feel organic and true to the Star Wars universe’s “feel.” Check out some of the game’s concept art below. It’ll make your eyeballs salivate.

Here’s hoping this one knocks it out of the part. That might help soothe some of my depression over that other bounty hunter game’s slide into limbo… Star Wars: 1313 will be released for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. So far they haven’t announced a release date.
