Star Trek Liquor Ads Invite You To Explore The Drunken Frontier

By David Wharton | 8 years ago

Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek vision is of a future where our species has risen above many problems that have always plagued us, things like poverty, racism, and elevator music. The folks of the future also seem to have evolved past the honored tradition of a good old-fashioned booze-fueled bender. Sure, there are a few notable holdouts like Montgomery Scott’s “green stuff” and the occasional dinner party sabotaged by Romulan Ale, but most of the Trek world seems to stick to synthehol. That means that the booze producers of the Trek universe have a serious advertising challenge ahead of them. So why not plaster some classy liquor ads all over the Ten-Forward equivalents of the galaxy?

The images, designed to be reminiscent of vintage liquor ads, were put together by Brian of the Dangerous Days tumblr. He seriously went into the deep cuts, too. Anybody can toss out the odd Romulan ale reference, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Bajoran Spring Wine. But hey, the folks of the future shouldn’t have to wait for a “Naked Time” style affliction to peel away those inhibitions…

Check out the rest of the pics in the gallery below, and if any particularly catch your eye, prints are all available for sale on Etsy.
