Earlier today, Paramount Pictures released a new international trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness. While the new trailer captures the film’s high action, the new international poster captures the overall menace of the film’s villain, John Harrison (Benedict Cumberbatch). Check it out:

The new poster completely contrasts the first poster released for Star Trek Into Darkness. That one showed Harrison from behind, with his long coat caught in the wind, whereas the new poster shows the evil villain looking straight at the viewer, with Uhura (Zoë Saldaña), Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), and Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto) behind him. It really seems like Star Trek Into Darkness’ marketing and its plot will center on John Harrison.

Star Trek Into Darkness will feature Captain Kirk on a manhunt for an ex-Starfleet officer who is considered to be “a one man weapon of mass destruction.” Kirk must fight against the mysterious John Harrison to keep his crew together, his ship intact, and the Federation safe from tyranny.

According to TrekMovie, the new international trailer has a handful of URL Easter Eggs in the background. If you find the hidden bit.ly URLs, the links would take you to the new international posters. It’s very clever! Who’s looking for Easter Eggs when Dr. Carol Marcus (Alice Eve) is on screen in her underwear?

Star Trek Into Darkness will hit theaters everywhere on May 17th, in IMAX and 3D.
