The closer we get to the release date of Star Trek Into Darkness, the more small glimpses we get to see of the film. In a recent promotion for the Star Trek sequel, Paramount Pictures and Qualcomm Labs are joining forces to create a new Star Trek Into Darkness smartphone app to give fans the opportunity to watch exclusive bonus materials.

Announced at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Star Trek Into Darkness app will give fans a chance to interact with their surroundings by using audio scans, geo-location recognition, and image recognition functionality to unlock exclusive bonus materials, images, wallpapers, and news from the upcoming sequel film. The first chance fans will have to use the app will be during this year’s Super Bowl, with a new Star Trek Into Darkness commercial arriving during the game’s second quarter.

By just downloading the app to your smartphone, you will be automatically entered into a sweepstakes to win a VIP trip to Los Angeles for the U.S. premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness.
