Stabby New Walking Dead Trailer

By Brent McKnight | Updated

Like an undead zombie, lurching forward with single-minded purpose, season three of AMC’s The Walking Dead is creeping up on us. Before the premiere on Sunday, October 14th, we’re likely to have seen dozens of clips, blurbs, TV spots, and trailers for the highly rated drama. There’s been a tidal wave of videos, and here’s one more for you to drink in. There’s lots of stabbing and hacking.

Weapons, food, medicine, and, dare we say it, safety? These are a few of the things potentially waiting for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his scrappy band of survivors inside the walls of a prison they happen across. This “goldmine” comes with a curse, however. Unfortunately for them, there’s some serious spring cleaning to do, as the place is rotten with walkers. And after the collapse of civilization, having the tools to survive makes you a target.

This video not only shows the group’s attempts to reclaim this bit of land from the dead, but it gives you a glimpse of the newest threat they must face, the Governor (David Morrissey). The brutal leader of a survivalist enclave called Woodbury, he comes across Andrea (Laurie Holden) and newcomer Michonne (Danai Gurira)—okay, it looks like he holds them hostage. This turn is a departure from source material, Robert Kirkman’s Walking Dead comic books, but it looks like thematically and tonally things will be similar.

At just a minute long, we get to see glimpses of Rick becoming the leader that he ultimately becomes. Willing to do whatever is necessary to keep his family safe, including crossing into brutal violence himself, Rick draws a line in the sand, prepared to make a stand, a final stand if that’s how it goes down. They spilled blood, their own and others, and they’re not about to hand over what’s theirs. Doesn’t he look like he means business?

Ominous and tense, this clip should get you suitably pumped up for season three of The Walking Dead. Or at least keep you pumped.
