The two biggest selling points of any movie in the Resident Evil family are franchise tent pole Milla Jovovich in a skin-tight black outfit, and guns. These two elements are most often encountered in combination, as Alice, Jovovich’s character, clad in her traditional uniform, uses a variety of firearms to dispatch all manner of monsters, mutants, and villains.

A new image for Resident Evil: Retribution, the fifth installment of the videogame-based series, finds these two primary features on prominent display. Take a look…

Alice has not just one, not just two, but an entire spinning carousel of guns at her disposal. You know that spells certain doom for any number of zombies. Are they really even still zombies at this point? It seems like they’ve evolved past simple zombie-dom at some point. Were they ever even supposed to be zombies? Maybe it just felt that way, maybe they just had zombie-like characteristics.

Retribution, in which Jovovich once again teams up with director Paul W.S. Anderson, follows Alice on a global expedition to track down the people behind the Umbrella Corporation, the company responsible for unleashing the deadly T-virus that wiped out the entire planet. A bunch of her friends also tag alone for the ride, and fans will notice a long list of familiar faces, including Sienna Guillory, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Oded Fehr, and Michelle Rodriguez.

Retribution also welcomes a couple of infamous characters from the games. Li Bingbing plays Ada Wong, and Kevin Durand shows up as Barry Burton.

This is the second Resident Evil movie to be shot in 3D, so you can bet there will be lots of slow motion diving as Anderson wings things at your face. You can check it out for yourself when the film opens September 14.
