“A group of friends get trapped inside a storage facility and have to try and figure how to get out.” If the idea for Storage 24 stopped there, you’d have the makings of a particularly irritating way to spend your afternoon, or maybe a semi-memorable episode of Friends. Thankfully Storage 24 doesn’t stop there, but instead throws a vicious alien beastie into the mix who is eager to discover all the different ways you can disassemble an attractive cast of young British actors.

Sure, the “trapped in a contained area with something horrible” story has been told a thousand different ways since Alien, but people do still occasionally find a way to put a fresh spin on it. Whether Storage 24 succeeds at that goal remains to be seen, but at the very least the redband trailer showcases some enjoyably icky gore. You’d think Mickey from Doctor Who would be used to this sort of thing by now…

Storage 24 is available On Demand now, and will open in theaters on January 11, 2013. Here’s the official synopsis:

London is in chaos. A military cargo plane has crashed leaving its highly classified contents strewn across the city. Completely unaware London is in lockdown, Charlie (Noel Clarke) and Shelley (Antonia Campbell-Hughes), accompanied by best friends Mark (Colin O’Donoghue) and Nikki (Laura Haddock), are at Storage 24 dividing up their possessions after a recent break-up. Suddenly, the power goes off. Trapped in a dark maze of endless corridors, a mystery predator is hunting them one by one. In a place designed to keep things in, how do you get out?
