Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is named after a ship that ventures into deep space on a mission to explore the mysterious origins of mankind. The ship of course is named after the mythical titan who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to people, only to be punished by being chained to a rock and having his liver devoured by an eagle every single day. That punishment does seem rather extreme, but then I’ve never openly defied a god. A new clip from Prometheus the movie gives you an extended look at the Prometheus the ship.

There’s not much new information in this video, except you learn Idris Elba is the captain of the Prometheus, who guides her in for a landing on the planet where the bulk of the film’s action takes place. While this clip isn’t action-packed or exposition heavy, it looks incredible. Everything, the design of the ship, the effects, the composite of the world, everything looks perfect and blends seamlessly. More than anything else, this gives you an extended peek at the world of Prometheus.
Sure, by landing on the surface of this planet the crew of Prometheus are essentially sealing their fate, but what the hell, they don’t know that, so they’re super excited instead. Silly space explorers, don’t they know going to strange new worlds in search of answers always spell inevitable doom?
Prometheus opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D June 8th, and stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Logan Marshall-Green, Kate Dickie, and Guy Pearce.
