Updated: Potential Details About Star Wars: Episode VII Villains Have Leaked

Update: Well, this one fell apart fast. After the story started spreading about the MakingStarWars rumors about Episode VII‘s villains, TheForceNet did a bit of detective work that seems to have cast some serious doubt on the potential legitimacy of those rumors. Here’s Eric from TheForceNet:
As I was checking out the story, I went back to the Star Wars Rebels minute-long trailer and listened to the brief clip of Imperial Agent Kallus contacting the Inquisitor. In the clip, Kallus says (0:53-0:56), ‘Inquisitor, I have encountered a rebel cell,’ and the Inquisitor replies (0:56-0:58), ‘You did well to call.’
I compared both of these lines to various clips of David Oyelowo speaking, and I’m now convinced that, contrary to most reports about Oyelowo’s Star Wars involvement, he is in fact playing Kallus, not the Inquisitor.
If Oyelowo is indeed playing Kallus, that would shoot down a bit element that made the rumor sound believable. And whoever Oyelowo is playing in Rebels, it apparently isn’t the Inquisitor. At least not according to StarWars.com.

Hey, we haven’t heard any good Star Wars rumors in a few days, most of the coverage has been preoccupied with the health of Harrison Ford’s injured ankle. But you all are probably ready for a good one, and, as far as this sort of thing goes, this potential bit of news would actually be pretty damn interesting if it turns out to be true, and it involves potential villains in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.
It should go without saying that there are potential SPOILERS past this point, you’ve been warned, proceed with caution.
According to a recent rumor that has surfaced at Making Star Wars:
The bad guys in Star Wars: Episode VII are being called “Jedi Hunters” by people working on and around the film. These are scary individuals, dressed in black, some helmeted, that hunt Jedi for the Empire.
While this is all hearsay at this point, it sounds just reasonable enough to be true. That doesn’t mean it is, but what the hell, this is a fun bit of speculation. The report also states that both Girls star Adam Driver and 12 Years A Slave Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong’o could be playing two of these Jedi Hunters, who also happen to wield lightsabers as their weapon of choice. Nyong’o could even wear creepy yellow contact lenses. This would also support the rumors of a female villain.
The idea of badasses that go around the galaxy tracking down and exterminating the remaining Jedi sounds like a suitably ominous bit of antagonism. It also calls to mind the Inquisitor, who is the villain in the upcoming Star Wars Rebels animated series, and hunts down Jedi Knights after Order 66 leaves their ranks in ruins. We’ve heard rumblings recently that the show could have major links to the new Episode films, and while we were asking ourselves how that could be possible—Rebels takes place five years before A New Hope, while Episode VII occurs 30 years after Return of the Jedi—this could provide that link.
A while back, the working title The Ancient Fear leaked out, and this moniker supposedly refers to Max Von Sydow’s character. It seems entirely plausible that there could be a link in this arena. One of the sources cited in the report had no idea about the subject of Rebels, but said that sounds “exactly like what they’re filming for Star Wars: Episode VII.”
Some reports have said that Driver could play Han Solo and Princess Leia’s son, who has been lured away by the Dark Side of the Force. Initially this news seems to preclude that, but not necessarily. If these Jedi Hunters are a known commodity, it’s plausible that since Luke and Leia’s children would naturally be prone to inheriting that, they could be hidden around the galaxy for protection, much like Obi Wan stashed the twins to keep them away from Vader.
Whoever these evildoers are, and whatever they’re up to, they have a definite end game in mind:
The resurrection of the Sith and it “sounds like it happens in the next film” meaning Episode VIII and “I guess they kill him (said resurrected Sith) in IX.”
The report goes on to say that Luke “has been fighting to stop this for the last thirty years of his life, but he is outnumbered, tired, and in need of help.”
Like all of these rumors, only time will tell whether or not any of these reports actually turn out to be true. In all reality, we probably won’t know about any of them for sure until Star Wars: Episode VII opens on December 18, 2015.
