While this spring movie season brings heavy action sci-fi like Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion, there is always room for post-apocalyptic alien invasion teen romance movies. But unlike Jonathan Levine’s Warm Bodies, The Host may deliver something more action packed and bizarre. The new film based on Stephenie Meyer may surprise people who think they might get something like the author’s previous work, The Twilight Saga. Check out The Host’s new posters and images from the alien invasion film below.

When you first hear that the original source material is from the same author as The Twilight Saga, you may get turned off completely by The Host. But if you check out the film’s trailer, you might feel differently about this futuristic tale of star-crossed teenaged lovers.

Firstly, Andrew Niccol directed the movie The Host. Although In Time was not a good time at the movies, his movies have a lot of great sci-fi ideas and notions behind them, especially his very underrated movies like Gattaca and S1M0NE. Then you take a look at The Host’s cast including Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger, and William Hurt. This cast seems more than solid to deliver a good movie.

The premise sounds interesting as well, involving parasitic aliens that invade our planet and the humans who inhabit it. Once they infest the body, they wipe your memory while you’re helpless against their will. But when Melanie (Saoirse Ronan) becomes infested, the parasitic aliens called “Souls” have a tough time assimilating her as she fights back.

Hopefully, The Host will be closer to Invasion of the Body Snatchers than The Twilight Saga. But we’ll find out when the film is released in theaters everywhere on March 29th.
