Between the Disney/Lucasfilm buyout and the news that Star Trek Into Darkness’s J.J. Abrams will also be helming Star Wars: Episode VII, we’ve seen quite a few visual riffs on the concept of colliding worlds. We’ve seen Princess Leia cavorting with animated Disney princesses, Star Wars trailers overlaid with Abrams’ Trek-style lens flares, you name it. But of everything we’ve seen thus far commenting on the crossovers between the worlds of Disney, Star Trek, and Star Wars, nothing is quite as awesome as these.

The Pixar/Star Trek mash-up images are the creation of Phil Postma of Minion Factory, and aside from being awesome in general, they make me want to start a crowdfunding project to force Paramount and Pixar to make this into a real, ongoing animated series. Like, today. I’m willing to consider all strategies up to and including the kidnapping and holding for ransom of the families of Paramount and Pixar executives. Paramount and Pixar, that’s even fun to say!

It’s been 40 years since the first Star Trek animated series, and with the franchise now making big bucks courtesy of J.J. Abrams and company, it’s inevitable that Trek will return to the small screen at some point. Why not make a family-friendly animated series while we’re waiting for somebody to come up with a great idea for a live-action return?

If you love these as much as I do, be sure to check out Postma’s earlier project, which gave the Pixar once-over to assorted super-heroic types. And yes, I’d watch that animated series too.
