The Ender’s Game movie is currently filming and, since it took so long for this to actually happen, we Ender fans need weekly affirmations that this project actually exists.
It does exist and here’s your weekly evidence, a brand new photo from the set:
That’s the first actual photo we’ve seen, featuring any of the movie’s Battle School kids. Ender isn’t with them, but that’s the group he’ll eventually lead.
Here’s the official description that came with the photo on the Ender production blog…
You think your school was clique-ish? In Battle School, you are part of an army, each represented by its own iconic symbol. Lately, Dragon Army has come to be known as a repository of misfits and failures. As a member of this unit, you’re supposed to live, breathe (fire?) and fight as one cohesive and selfless unit. Success as one. Defeat as one. Unfortunately for Dragon Army, their reputation is the latter.
Ender will be tasked with restoring this tarnished symbol. Will they follow him?
The picture’s so small it’s hard to make out everyone, but that little kid on the left, third from the front is Aramis Knight as Bean. Behind him is Brandon Soo Hoo playing Fly Molo. In the front on the left is Khylin Rhambo as Dink Meeker.
For anyone wondering why this doesn’t look very spacey, keep in mind this is a set photo. The stuff you see in the background may not be in the movie. It’s hard to tell whether they’re actually on set, or maybe just in some sort of training. I’m hoping it’s training, since I’ve always assumed Battle School would not look just like your generic, run of the mill, High School gym.
