World War Z Mega Ticket
Next week, World War Z will finally be released into theaters across the country. The latest film from producer and star Brad Pitt is positioned to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer. If you can’t wait until June 21 to see the film, Paramount Pictures is offering fans of Max Brooks’ bestselling novel a chance to watch World War Z early. But that chance will cost you fifty bucks.

Paramount and Fandango are selling special “Mega Tickets” for World War Z that feature admission to early 3D screenings of the zombie film on June 19, along with a digital copy of the film when it’s available, limited edition 3D glasses, and a few other goodies. Is it worth $50 to see the flick two days early? Here’s the official rundown of what you’ll get for your fifty bucks:

-One (1) adult admission ticket to the 6/19 advance 3D show of World War Z presented in RealD 3D
-One (1) HD digital copy of movie when available*
-One (1) pair of World War Z collector’s custom RealD 3D glasses**
-One (1) official limited-edition movie poster
-One (1) small popcorn
* One (1) HD digital movie copy available to download or stream when released on street date. Internet connection and compatible device required.
** Distributed at theatre box office. While Supplies last.

Another catch of the Mega Ticket purchase is that you have to live near participating 3D theaters in Atlanta, Houston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and San Diego. It seems as if Paramount is testing the waters for a new business model here, otherwise they would’ve rolled this promotion out in more markets. Here are the participating theaters:

Regal Atlantic Station 16 IMAX & RPX – Atlanta, GA
Edwards Greenway Grand Palace Stadium 24 & RPX – Houston, TX
UA King Of Prussia Stadium 16 & IMAX – King of Prussia, PA
Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 IMAX & RPX – Los Angeles, CA
Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX – San Diego, CA

Paramount’s Mega Ticket deal would be more enticing if you’d get an opportunity to watch World War Z a few weeks earlier, or get the digital copy right after you watch the movie in theaters. They could at least spring for a larger popcorn size, and maybe a soda. Maybe we’ll see that sort of deal for Star Wars: Episode VII or The Avengers 2. Hell! I would do this for The World’s End, but otherwise I think I would just wait a few more days to watch it for far less money.

World War Z will hit theaters everywhere on June 21, in 3D and IMAX. You can purchase a Mega Ticket for World War Z at Fandango. If you do, let us know what your experience was like in the comments below.
