Pacific Rim’s Early Buzz Is Insanely Positive
This article is more than 2 years old
Expectations and anticipation were extremely high when we first heard that Guillermo del Toro was making a movie about giant mechs battling giant sea monsters. When Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. first screened the film for test audiences back in February, reactions were mainly positive. Now more screenings have brought even more praise.
This past weekend, Warner Bros. screened another cut of Pacific Rim. The reactions afterward were even more positive than originally expected, and unless Guillermo Del Toro dramatically changes Pacific Rim between now and July, you can expect it to be one of the biggest movies of the summer.
The lucky few people who attended the secret test screening took to Twitter to voice their opinions. Although reactions were extremely positive, keep in mind how Twitter tends to exaggerate. Read some of the positive reactions below:
Screened #PacificRim it’s everything you hoped for and more. Also got to meet Guillermo del Toro as well. What a class act. #Blockbuster

So. I just saw the nearly-finished PACIFIC RIM. I know I’m prone to hyperbolic statements…but believe me…PACIFIC RIM is STUNNING.

So, what can we expect to see this July? From the tweets, it sounds like Pacific Rim will be one fantastic ride. Could Guillermo del Toro’s monster flick out-do Star Trek Into Darkness or Iron Man 3 this summer?
Of course, these reactions should be taken with a grain of salt; the test audience may be extra excited because they were among the first people to see the movie. Then again, it appears even the most cynical of moviegoers might be won over by Pacific Rim.
Btw, Pacific Rim was pretty awesome. It was also awesome cause it was free. And it was an early screening.
