“Let’s go fishing.” With only a couple of months until it stomps into theaters, Pacific Rim is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated movies of the summer. Every piece of promotional material we’ve seen, from new posters to trailers, all makes Pacific Rim look like every sci-fi geek’s dream. And the latest trailer, which was premiered at this year’s WonderCon in Anaheim, California, just ramped our excitement up higher than we thought was possible.

Pacific Rim also has the potential to be this year’s The Avengers when it comes to the most crowd-pleasing movie of the summer. It looks like it has elements of Iron Man (the pilots’ suits), Transformers (the Jaegers), and Godzilla (the Kaiju). C’mon, there’s a scene featuring a Jaeger using a tanker ship as a baseball bat to battle a Kaiju in the middle of a city!

After a dimensional rift opens at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, terrifyingly creatures invade the Earth to wreak havoc on its numerous coastal cities. Humanity builds giant mechs to battle the sea monsters and save the world from total annihilation. Each mech needs two pilots working in synchronicity to control the giant metal beast’s movements, but when the Pan Pacific Defense Corps’ fleet is wiped out, two unlikely heroes, Raleigh Antrobus (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), are the world’s only hope for survival.

Pacific Rim will also star Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Day. The movie will kick your ass with awesome on July 12th, in IMAX and 3D.
