This latest TV spot for Guillermo del Toro’s epic monsters-fighting-robots movie Pacific Rim takes great pains to remind you that this movie is coming to you in three glorious dimensions. In case you forgot that, a massive mechanical fist flying right at your face should serve to jog your memory. Now that’s what I’m talking about.

In just over 30 seconds, this commercial distills Pacific Rim down to its very essence, and shows you quick glimpses of everything you’re excited to see about this movie. There are mechs, there are monsters, there is fighting, there is Idris Elba saying tough-ass things like, “Haven’t you heard, the world’s coming to an end?” I absolutely love that bit where the Kaiju, one of the massive creatures, jumps out of the water and grabs the Jaeger by the dome. That shit is awesome.

When the Kaiju emerge into our world through an interdimensional rift at the bottom of the ocean, those fancy-pants engineers among the human race launch the Jaeger Program, which creates a bunch of big-ass mechs to combat this new monster menace. The result, as you can imagine, is messy. Lots of buildings get knocked down, cities get wrecked up, there’s monster poo everywhere. You know, the usual. It’s a losing battle, but humanity has one last shot, and that comes in the form of a washed-up pilot (Charlie Hunnam), an untested rookie (Rinko Kikuchi), and a legendary, though out-of-date, Jaeger named Gipsy Danger.

The PG-13 Pacific Rim storms theaters worldwide on July 12.
