Pacific Rim Jaeger Featurette Highlights The Film’s Massive Scale

So far the summer movie-going season has been filled with some highs like Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Fast & Furious 6, but it seems like the best is yet to come, with Pacific Rim, Man of Steel, World War Z, and Elysium opening later in the season. Pacific Rim is one of the biggest films of the summer. Not just in terms of anticipation, but also in scale, Pacific Rim is a giant movie!
If you thought the scale of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim was gigantic, watch the featurette above to get an idea of the size of the film’s production. The giant mechs’ (Jaegers) head are where the two pilots are housed to control the entire metal beast. Del Toro’s team built a four-story set that was fixed with multiple hydraulic lifts to toss and turn the actors inside while battling giant alien sea monsters (Kaiju). It looks really impressive and complex.
Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have also released a large array of behind-the-scenes and promotional images with a few amazing pieces of concept art. Just looking at everything we’ve seen from Pacific Rim so far, it seems like del Toro’s new movie might have a good mix between heavy action and high drama. Check out the new images below:
When a dimensional rift opens at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, dreadful Kaiju invade our planet to terrify our coastal cities. To fight off this eminent threat, military powers build giant Jaegers to defend our home planet from destruction. Two Jaeger pilots — Raleigh Antrobus (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) — are the world’s only hope for survival against these violent Kaiju attacks.
Pacific Rim will hit theaters everywhere on July 12, in 3D and IMAX. Warner Bros. and Legendary also released a new Pacific Rim banner poster, which also highlights the film’s humongous scale. Check it out below:
