In about a week and a half, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures will release the latest science fiction film from director Guillermo del Toro. Although Pacific Rim had plenty of solid early buzz, the flick has been the subject of some negative negative speculation recently about whether it has the attention of general audiences, who seem to be more interested in Adam Sandler’s latest movie Grown Ups 2. How Guillermo del Toro’s film will perform at the box office during its opening weekend remains to be seen, but in the meantime Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures are keeping the Pacific Rim marketing machine full speed ahead with another new clip.

Warner Bros. has unleashed a new focusing on the film’s giant alien sea monsters (called Kaiju), Charlie Day’s hipster scientist Dr. Newton Geizler, and the giant mech Gipsy Danger using a freightliner ship as a baseball bat. Until now, we have never seen a Kaiju battle from street level. It’s curious to think why the deadly Kaiju didn’t attack Charlie Day’s character Dr. Geizler. Are the Kaiju more peaceful than we thought?

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures also released two new posters: one featuring the Jaeger Gipsy Danger, while and the other showcasing a Category Four Kaiju called Otachi. Gipsy Danger is the Jaeger at the center of Pacific Rim. It is controlled by by the washed-up, recently called out of retirement Jaeger pilot Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and his new rookie co-pilot Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi).

The Kaiju Otachi is described as one of the biggest alien sea monsters ever recorded. It is the Kaiju featured in the short clip above, one that walks on all fours and has the ability to fly in short distances. Honestly, Otachi looks like one of the creatures in the Petranaki arena scene on Geonosis in Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones. Check out the Otachi poster below:

After a dimensional rift opens up at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, deadly sea monsters spill into Earth to wreak havoc on coastal cities and try to wipe out the human race. To fight back, military superpowers create the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, who are tasked with defending the world with giant, human-piloted mechs called Jaegers. But the obsolete Gipsy Danger may be mankind’s last chance for salvation.

The new film also features actors Idris Elba, Rob Kazinsky, Max Martini, Clifton Collins Jr., and Ron Perlman as Hannibal Chau. Screenwriter Travis Beacham co-wrote Pacific Rim with the film’s director, Guillermo del Toro.

Pacific Rim will hit theaters everywhere on July 12, in 3D and IMAX.
