Dropped From Netflix: There’s Only One Marvel Movie Left

Dropped from Netflix

Here at GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT we’re used to delivering good news about things that are new to streaming, but there must always come a time when optimism is defeated and the real world shoves a wagging finger in our face. In this case, it comes in the form of a massive glut of films that Netflix will be removing this fall. Netflix gives and Netflix takes away.

The most recent batch of movies to have been pulled from the service are Marvel movies. Thanks to the launch of Disney’s new streaming service Disney Plus, Marvel’s parent company has been yanking their movies off Netflix so they can put them on their proprietary app. It has taken awhile, but every Marvel movie is now officially gone from Netflix… except one.

The last Marvel movie left on Netflix is the Sony produced Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Better still, it looks like it’s going to stay on there, at least for awhile. That’s probably due to it being a primarily Sony produced project, though that hasn’t stopped the other Spider-Man movies from being pulled. No telling how long it’ll be there, so enjoy it this last Marvel movie while you still can. Plus, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is already on the way.

Netflix adds and removes movies all the time but in the fall they’ll be removing not only a huge number of films but also a large number of great films. Of particular note are the great, bloved movies they’re dropping and that you won’t be able to see anymore. Those include Clueless, Groundhog Day, Tootsie, The Karate Kid, and a lot more.

We’re also losing some really popular modern movies like Bad Boys and Bad Boys II. And I’m really hoping I get around to watching Public Enemies before Netflix drops it.

Parents and kids are really going to miss Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory when it’s pulled too. Dropping this many movies, and in particular this many GOOD movies, is going to leave a hole the size of Texas in Netflix’s catalogue. They won’t be able to fill it easily.

You only have a short time to watch or rewatch the movies listed below. It’s bad news for anyone stuck in quarantine and planning to rely on Netflix movies to keep their brain busy. Here’s the complete list of all the movies Netflix is dropping soon…
