Yesterday, NBC released a first-look video for their new sci-fi drama Revolution, full of cast and producer interviews. Today, they have released individual character profiles of the series’ heroes and villains.

NBC highlights the character of Captain Neville (Giancarlo Esposito), who is getting a reputation for expertly playing villains after his chilling performance as Gustavo “Gus” Fring on AMC’s Breaking Bad. Captain Neville is the leader of the Monroe Militia. In his former life, Neville lined up the truth with the facts as a claims adjuster for an insurance company. After the worldwide blackout, he uses that skill set to keep the peace. Based on his past work, Esposito is considered a world-class actor, so he should keep things interesting on Revolution. Check out Captain Neville’s character profile:

Tracy Spiridakos plays the adventurous Charlie Matheson. After her father dies, Charlie goes on a cross-country journey to find her uncle Miles, who may hold the keys to why the worldwide blackout occurred. Spiridakos has appeared on shows such as SupernaturalPsych, and most recently on SyFy’s Being Human. Her character on Revolution seems like a cross between The Hunger Games‘ Katniss Everdeen and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. She is an independent young woman who has a great sense of exploration and adventure.

The network also released an extended preview of the sci-fi drama to give audiences a better sense of what the series is going to be like. They are quickly building awareness of Revolution but it feels like NBC is releasing the pilot episode in five-minute increments before it airs.

Revolution premieres on September 17th on NBC.
