Back near the end of November, we showed you an awesome clip from the epic creature feature, The Host 2, the long-awaited follow up to one of Korea’s biggest blockbusters. At least we thought it was a clip from the movie, which has been talked about ever since the first film broke box office records in 2006.

Turns out that clip, though still super badass, is just test footage that Macrograph used to build up hype for The Host 2. It is also apparently a few years old. But given all of the buzz stirred up around the web in recent days, now there’s actual news about the film, from producer Choi Yong-bae.

There is now a completed script, from Doomsday Book helmer Im Pil-sung. As earlier reported, Bong Joon-ho will not return to direct the sequel, since he’s hard are work on his first English-language film, the post-apocalyptic drama Snowpiercer. Instead, commercials director Park Myung-chun will make his directorial debut, with an eye on a summer 2014 release.

There’s not too much to report, plot wise, from The Host 2, but there will be two different giant monsters this go round, so there’s that to look forward to. Whether or not that means these are two creatures, distinct from one another, two new creatures, or simply two of the beasts from the first movie, remains to be seen. Either way, that’s a wonderful amount of monster for a single movie.

And here’s the aforementioned clip for you to look at again. Regardless of its original purposed, it’s pretty great.
