After the crash and burn of the Wachowskis’ and German director Tom Tykwer’s Cloud Atlas last year, it will be interesting to see if the sibling directors’ next film will get a warmer reception from audiences. There isn’t much known about their upcoming Jupiter Ascending, but from the film’s plot description, it sounds like it will be even more ambitious than Cloud Atlas.

In an interview with Collider, Mila Kunis talks about her training for Jupiter Ascending, which is nearing production. Here’s Kunis:

The movie that I’m doing, that’s following up [Oz the Great and Powerful], requires a lot more wire training than this one did, but at least this one prepped me for that. I love it! I will do and have done all my own stunts, as much as allotted.

What is that next film?
The Wachowski movie (Jupiter Ascending). That one requires a lot of wires. Everything seems to be wired. But, I haven’t started that yet. I start next week.

The sci-fi film takes place in a universe where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, and has elements that make it sound like an intergalactic version of the fairy tale Snow White. It was also reported that Jupiter Ascending would be the first film in a new trilogy from the Wachowskis.

Mila Kunis is playing a character who has the exact genetic makeup of the Queen of the Universe. This makes her a target for assassination. The Queen hires a hit man named Django Wise (Channing Tatum) to carry out the assassination. Hopefully, Jupiter Ascending will do well enough in theaters so Wachowski fans will be able to watch the next two films in the sci-fi series.

The Wachowskis recently added Sean Bean to the cast of Jupiter Ascending. He will be joining Channing Tatum, Eddie Redmayne, Tuppence Middleton, and, of course, Mila Kunis. There is no release date set for Jupiter Ascending, but it seems likely the film will be released sometime in 2014.
