Pagani HuayraAs production gets underway for the fourth installment of the Transformers series, director Michael Bay is busy at work picking out beautiful luxury cars to eventually blow up. The action filmmaker was reluctant at first to return to the director’s chair for Transformers 4, but now the 48-year-old wants the new chapter to start off on good footing before he eventually reduces his role in the Transformers franchise. Yesterday, Michael Bay released an image of the new Pagani Huayra that will be featured in the forthcoming Transformers sequel.

From Italian manufacturers Pagani, the Huayra literally translates to “God of the winds.” The Pagani Huayra is, in fact, heavenly and grand to admire. It’s a very expensive car too, retailing at a whopping $1.3 million. That’s going to make for one very expensive explosion. Bay, who posted the image on his personal website, had this to say about the car: “Considered a masterpiece of design and engineering, this fierce, 2013 blood red Pagani Huayra, is named after an ancient Andean God of Wind.”

The Pagani Huayra is by far the sexiest car featured in Transformers 4 yet. When Bay started releasing images on his website, he focused on the cars and revealed which Transformer would embody each automobile. After releasing a few images, Bay stopped teasing Transformers that will appear in the new film, which is partially annoying.

The first round of Transformers 4 vehicles included re-designs for previously featured Autobots Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Sideswipe. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner has said that the new Transformers movie will feature new Autobots and Decepticons who have yet to be featured in the earlier Transformers films.

Michael Bay earlier revealed that these new Transformers would include Hound, Drift, and a car version of the Autobot Slingshot, who was previously a jet in other iterations of the Transformers franchise. The strangest and most noticeable addition is a Sonic RS Rally Car, which is believed to be Australian actor Brenton Thwaites‘ race driver character’s car.

According to Michael Bay, Transformers 4 will take place four years after the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon. There are a few rumors that suggest the new Transformers film will also feature the epic civil war between Autobots and Decepticons on Cybertron, which has been described since the beginning of the film series with the original Transformers film in 2007. We’ve only seen glimpses of the civil war itself at the beginning of Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2011, so it would be great to see more of the conflict that brought the Autobots and Decepticons to Earth. There is also a possibility that Transformers 4 will introduce fan-favorite villain Unicron into the film mythology.

The fourth installment in the Transformers series will also feature actors Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, T.J. Miller, and Kelsey Grammer as the film’s human villain. Transformers 4 will hit theaters everywhere on June 27, 2014, in 3D and IMAX.
