Well, it looks like Guardians of the Galaxy might have some “comedy” to it. Marvel Studios is rumored to be looking at both Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler for the upcoming space-superheroes flick. It’s not confirmed which role either of them would be playing, but Rocket Raccoon and/or Groot seem likely.
According to Latino Review’s inside sources, Marvel is looking to have either Jim Carrey and/or Adam Sandler in the new superhero team-up movie. Considering Jim Carrey (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective) and Adam Sandler (Happy Gilmore) haven’t been funny in a movie in almost 20 years, perhaps appearing in a big comic-book movie for Marvel Studios would be a good direction for their careers. Is it too late to endorse Jason Statham to play Rocket Raccoon?
Rocket Raccoon is the “Guardian of the Keystone Quadrant,” an area of outer space that is forbidden from the rest of the cosmos, separated by the Galacian Wall. He is a space raccoon that has been genetically manipulated to have human intelligence and motor skills. Rocket Raccoon is also an expert marksman and a master tactician of the intergalactic police squad.
The extraterrestrial Groot is a treelike alien. He is a noble hero and has the ability to re-grow and re-build himself. He can also control trees and is resistant to fire. Groot is the most intelligent member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rocket Raccoon and Groot are also best friends.
Marvel is looking to start production with Guardians of the Galaxy this summer, for August 2014 release date. They haven’t cast any of the roles yet, but the shortlist for protagonist Star-Lord includes Jim Sturgess, Zachary Levi, Wes Bentley, and John Krasinski. The shortlist for Drax The Destroyer includes Isaiah Mustafa, Brian Patrick Wade, and former WWE superstar Dave Bautista.
Guardians of the Galaxy will open in theaters everywhere on August 1, 2014.
