mad max fury roadLater this month, San Diego will host their annual Comic-Con event, a tiny hub of entertainment that is barely visited by anyone. Or maybe it’s the biggest film/TV/comics convention of the year. Either way, Warner Bros. is bringing out a few of their biggest guns for this year’s extravaganza, and George Miller’s return-to-form Mad Max: Fury Road and the Wachowskis’ space opera Jupiter Ascending will be a huge part of the fun. Will Channing Tatum be floating around Hall H in his nifty rocket boots? Time will tell.

Miller will be on hand on Saturday, July 26, to present the first-ever footage from Mad Max: Fury Road, his long-awaited return to the dusty post-apocalyptic world that he created with Mad Max in 1979. (I’m still dumbfounded that his last two films were Happy Feet and its sequel, but that hasn’t brought down my excitement one iota.) The film stars Tom Hardy in the titular role, as well as Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, Nicholas Hoult as Nux, and Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus. It’s unclear at this point who in the cast, if anyone, will make appearances at the footage screening, or if there will be a related Q&A panel.

That’s almost the same situation that’s happening with the WachowskisJupiter Ascending. Footage from the film will be shown, but the THR article doesn’t mention whether the directing duo will be there to present the footage or not. Beyond Tatum, Jupiter Ascending stars Mila Kunis, Sean Bean, Douglas Booth, and Eddie Redmayne. Considering this movie was originally supposed to be coming out this month — before its released was delayed until February 2015 — maybe this was all one big ruse to gain a bigger audience through Comic-Con. I’m too shamelessly excited about it to assume anything worse. Check out one of the many trailers below.

More Warner Bros.-related Comic-Con goings-on: Peter Jackson will take the stage to talk about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, or whatever that movie ends up being called by the time it comes out. And while it won’t be a part of the Saturday panel, Steven Quale’s disaster-packed thriller Into the Storm will be getting a sneak-peek first screening on Wednesday, July 23. Plus, Warner is teaming up with DC Entertainment to celebrate Batman’s 75th anniversary with a panel filled with comic greats such as Frank Miller and Grant Morrison, as well as a display of Batman’s various costumes over the years. But still no word on whether Zack Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will get any focus.

What panel are you guys most excited about? It’s Mad Max, right?
