A Lost 10-Year Reunion Will Go Down At PaleyFest 2014

It’s hard to believe that ABC’s Lost will have its 10-year anniversary later this year. In 2004, a little TV show about castaways on a deserted island captured the imagination of millions of viewers all around the world. While the series ended its run in 2010, there are still a lot of fans of the series that celebrate Lost as if it were still on the air. The adventures of Jack Shepherd, Kate Austen, and James “Sawyer” Ford, left a lasting impression on everyone who has ever watched the show, and in a few months, the cast of Lost will reunite for the first time in a decade.
According to Deadline, the William S. Paley Television Festival, better known as PaleyFest, will hold one of its biggest gatherings and events to date. Taking place at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland in Los Angeles, PaleyFest will play host to “Lost: 10th Anniversary Reunion.” While it’s unclear who from the cast will be on hand for the event, it’s believed that fan-favorites Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Josh Holloway, Jorge Garcia, and Henry Ian Cusick, along with Michael Emerson, will all be in attendance when the reunion takes place on March 16th.
There will be many Lost celebrations for the series 10-year anniversary this year. The show premiered on ABC on September 22, 2004, and saw immediate success based on the strength of its pilot episode, directed by none other than J.J. Abrams, I might add. The LOST 2014: The 10-Year Fan Gathering event will take place later this year in Oahu, Hawaii on Sept. 20-22. The event will include members of the cast and a special two-hour screening of the pilot episode on the beach of Oahu.
Of course, there was a lot of backlash directed towards showrunner Damon Lindelof after its series wrapped up in 2010. While the finale is questionable to many, there are pockets of Lost fandom who feel it was the best possible way to end the show’s six-season run. Even with his new series, HBO’s The Leftovers, Lindelof still can’t escape from criticism of the show’s resolution and its longstanding mysteries. Anything he attaches his name to will always be viewed with serious skepticism, albeit somewhat unfairly, all because of the series finale.
Along with Lost’s special 10-year reunion at this year’s PaleyFest features a so-long session for CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, Netflix participation with Orange Is The New Black, and an opening-night event featuring the Veronica Mars Kickstarter-funded movie. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., AMC’s Mad Men, and NBC comedies Parks & Recreation and Community will also be showcased during the two-week long television and media celebration event.
Over the years, Lost has been one of my favorite TV shows. It fell out of favor with me because of its last two seasons, but it’s still top-notch science fiction entertainment. Sure, the show lost its way from time to time (Nikki and Paulo, Jack’s tattoo episode), but that shouldn’t take away from the good things and enjoyment Lost brought to the table.
