The live-action Akira movie that fans don’t actually seem to want just won’t go away. Last we we learned that production on the upcoming film was halted due to problems with the budget, and that seemed to be the end of it. But now Jonathan Nolan may resurrect it.
Nolan is best known as the brother of director Christopher Nolan and the co-writer of such great Nolan helmed films as Memento, The Prestige, and The Dark Knight. With budget concerns in mind, Warner Brothers is considering bringing in Jonathan Nolan to rewrite their current Akira script, according to Cinema Blend.
That’s the good news. You can’t really go wrong getting the guy behind The Dark Knight involved. The bad news is that they haven’t decided and may hire Michael Green instead, a man who was partially responsible for the awful script used on the Green Lantern movie. Guess which of those writers comes cheaper?
Whoever they hire, it now seems like the Akira movie is back on. Warner Bros. is committed to getting it done, one way or another.
