“I Need To Speak To Caesar!” While Dawn of the Planet of the Apes doesn’t come out in theaters for another five months, the new LEGO Movie will hit theaters tomorrow. Although the apes Caesar, Rocket, and Koba aren’t featured in the new animated film, it seems that the country is caught up in LEGO fever with a new fan-made Lego re-creation of the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes teaser trailer.

The fan-made trailer is a well-made shot-for-shot re-creation of the teaser trailer that was released back in December 2013. It even features Jason Clarke’s Malcolm character’s monologue urging the human survivors of the Simian Flu to band together. Check out the original teaser trailer below for comparison.

YouTube user kristo499 made the LEGO trailer. It seems that kristo499 works a lot with LEGO bricks, because a majority of their videos feature LEGO animated scenes from popular movies like Captain Philips and the video game Halo.

It seems that LEGO is the go-to for giant mash-ups or massive team-ups. The LEGO Movie features a majority of the Justice League, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern, a few Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters, and the roster of the 2002 NBA All-Star team. With the inevitable success of The LEGO Movie and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, I wonder if the sequel will feature Lego versions of some of the apes.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is one of our most anticipated movies of 2014, so we’re betting the sequel will be a worthy follow-up to Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The new film has a better cast and a better director with Matt Reeves behind the camera, so there are much higher expectations for Dawn than when Rise was released in 2011. If you remember, no one was really expecting much from Rise of the Planet of the Apes, so it was a big surprise when it proved more touching and dramatic than you’d expect from a rebooted summer action movie.

There hasn’t been much news on the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes front lately. The film is now in post-production, and Matt Reeves is signed on to direct the untitled three-quel as well. That hiring shows that Fox has a lot of faith in Reeves. The third Apes film will be released more than two years from now, on July 29, 2016.

Dawn takes place 10 years after the events of Rise, in the year 2026. The Simian Flu virus has wiped out a majority of the human population, while the ape population continues to evolve rapidly. The film’s structure will feature two storylines: one that will follow a small group of human survivalists trying to find a cure, and the other focusing on Caesar’s dominance over the apes. It’s believed the two storylines will come together for an explosive climax.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will star Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Nick Thurston, Toby Kebbell, Karin Konoval, Terry Notary, Judy Greer, and Andy Serkis as Caesar. Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield) and screenwriter Mark Bomback (The Wolverine) re-wrote Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver’s script. Jaffa and Silver also wrote Rise of the Planet of the Apes‘ original screenplay. The sequel film will hit theaters everywhere on July 11, 2014, in 3D.
