Learn Your ABCs The Star Wars Way

By Nick Venable | 7 years ago

Did you ever start a secret club when you were a kid, where you felt it necessary to come up with your own secret language, both written, spoken, and handshaken, as if anyone would bother to try to find out what you were talking about? If that applies to you, and you also happen to be a Star Wars fan, then this is the perfect form of language for you, even though it’s not very secret and sending a written message would actually be more time intensive than writing with your foot. Maybe it should just be a piece of art, as it is intended.

The Star Wars Alphabet, from Concepción STUDIOS, founded by Art Director Patrick Concepcion, is a unique screenprint corresponding each letter of the alphabet with a character, weapon, or vehicle from George Lucas’ rich universe. Everything is designed as a black silhouette, which really works well with the Stormtrooper and Death Star, and makes me wonder why these kinds of creative liberties weren’t used on the rest. Obviously, the list had to be limited to 26, so most of the major players get their profile included. I suppose the 18×24 space was too limited for Jabba the Hutt, who should get his own garage door Fathead decal. The print is available through Concepción’s Etsy store page, where a few more Star Wars treasures await you, along with various other pieces from the pop culture landscape.
