Over the past few months we’ve seen numerous leaked photos and videos of the upcoming remake of José Padilha’s RoboCop. Now an image of an Omnicorp humanoid drone model EM-208 has found its way onto the Internet. Apparently the EM-208 will be used to work with the ED-209 in the new movie. Check out the image below.
The image surfaced on RoboCop Riot tumblr from an Instagram account that has since been deleted. The EM-208 will be used as ground troops in the movie RoboCop.
We know that there’s going to be a section of the new RoboCop that will involve Omnicorp’s presence in the Middle East during the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars. It’s unclear if EM-208 will be seen in the desert or in an urban backdrop. But one thing is for sure; RoboCop will have his hands full if he has to deal with ED-209 and EM-208.
The EM-208 almost looks like Justin Hammer’s humanoid Hammer Drones from Iron Man 2. When compared to the new design of RoboCop’s mechanical suit, it looks like the RoboCop remake may closely resemble the Iron Man movies more than the original RoboCop.
The RoboCop remake is one of the most anticipated movies of 2014. It was originally supposed to be released this August but Sony decided to push the release date of Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium from March to August instead. Now RoboCop has a new February 2014 release date, which doesn’t bode well with Sony’s faith in the film’s overall quality and the chances of it being a big success. It feels like Sony may have another Total Recall on their hands.
Dead or alive, RoboCop will be released in theaters everywhere on February 7th 2014.
