As production ramps up for the sequel to The Hunger Games — Catching Fire — the cast and crew have left their North Carolina location to shoot the final arena scene of the Third Quarter Quell in Hawaii. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire isn’t due in theaters until November 2013 but location photos of the Hawaiian production have leaked. We now have a good look at the underwater excitement, plus tributes Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark, and Sam Claflin wearing black-and-grey wetsuits. Check them out…

The sequence involves the Third Quarter Quell or 75th Hunger Games, where the winners of the past Hunger Games come together to battle each other in a winner-take-all death match. This is kind of like the All-Star Game of The Hunger Games. This event isn’t just to entertain and distract Panem, but also to show the Capital’s overall control and hold over the 12 Districts.

The wetsuit costumes look great and the battle photos look intense! If The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will feature an underwater death match with tributes wielding bows & arrows and harpoons, then fans of the young adult book series will not be disappointed in the sequel. These location photos are fresh on the heels of Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson explaining that the arena scenes will be natively shot in the IMAX format. Imagine what this sequence will look like in glorious IMAX!

We still have a solid year before The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters everywhere on November 22, 2013, but it looks like the sequel film is coming together nicely.
