Jurassic Park TV Spots Hype The Flick’s 3D Return To Theaters

Spring is a magical time, full of wonder and rebirth. While you may be looking forward to the close of the grey, gloomy winter for all the usual reasons, the prospect of spring 2013 is particularly exciting for an unusual reason: the release of Jurassic Park. Yes, Steven Spielberg’s man-versus-dinosaurs adventure is being re-released in theaters after a state-of-the-art 3D conversion.

To hype up the limited theatrical run that begins April 5th, two new TV spots have appeared online, as if by magic, for your perusal.

Granted, these brief commercials are essentially the same video, and both use mostly the same clips, strung together in a different order. Like the iconic image of the angry Tyrannosaurus Rex in the rearview mirror of one of those jungle-print Ford Explorers, the one that reads, “Objects in the mirror may be closer than they appear.” The first one wins extra points for including Samuel L. Jackson’s line, “Hold onto your butts.”

Similar though they may be, these are both still pretty damn fun, and I’m going to admit to being rather pumped for this. My memory may be skewed, but I remember spending most of the summer of 1993 in the dark of a movie theater, marveling at the special effects and seriously considering rekindling my childhood love affair with dinosaurs.

Movie fans old and new are sure to line up for the chance to see Jurassic Park like they’ve never seen it before. I’ve said it before, but I’m really looking forward to seeing that shady lawyer get eaten off of the toilet in 3D. That should be a damn good time.
